Dhaka North woman councillor arrested under Anti-Terrorism Act

She is an Awami League leader, police say

Police have arrested former Dhaka North City Corporation woman councillor Hazera Khatun Nargis.

Gulshan police arrested her from her Shahzadpur home around midnight on Monday, according to Talebur Rahman, deputy commissioner (media) of Dhaka Metropolitan Police.

She is also an Awami League leader, he said.

Gulshan police say she has been arrested under the Anti-Terrorism Act.

She will be brought before a court to request a remand for her interrogation in custody, police said.
