Eid journey turns fatal as father and daughter killed in Bogura crash, mother injured

The family was traveling from Rangpur to their village home in Pabna on a motorcycle, Fire Service says

A father and his young daughter have been killed after a vehicle struck their motorcycle in Bogura’s Shahjahanpur Upazila as they were travelling home for the Eid-ul-Azha holidays.

The accident occurred around 7:30am on Monday near Banani along the Dhaka–Rangpur Highway, Bogura Fire Service and Civil Defence official Shahidul Islam said.

The victims have been identified as Anisur Rahman, 35, and his daughter Puspa Akter, 4.

Anisur worked at BRAC in Rangpur. His wife Ayesha Begum, 25, was seriously injured in the crash and admitted to Bogura Shaheed Ziaur Rahman Medical College Hospital.

Fire Service and local sources said the family was travelling by motorcycle from Rangpur to their village home in Pabna when a vehicle hit them on the highway.

The impact threw all three onto the road.

Anisur and his daughter died at the scene. Fire Service personnel recovered the bodies and rescued the injured mother around 8am.

Shahidul said firefighters recovered the two bodies shortly after receiving the report, adding that efforts are under way to identify the vehicle involved in the collision.
