The Jatiya Party is resolved to stay in the general election, provided security, voter rights, and equal treatment in the electoral process are guaranteed, according to Secretary General Shameem Haider Patwary.

On Monday afternoon, after submitting his nomination papers, Shameem said the party will remain in the race if there is a level playing field, candidates are secure, and voters can cast their ballots without fear.

He noted that reports of “threats” against party leaders and activists have emerged in several areas. Investigations are under way, but if the situation continues, internal pressure may rise within the party to withdraw from the election.

Shameem Patwary stressed that the party wishes to participate fully, and the government and Election Commission must ensure their security, voting rights, equal access and dignity.
