President Mohammed Shahabuddin has returned home after medical treatment and health check-up in the UK.
Biman Bangladesh Airlines commercial flight BG-202 carrying the president landed at Dhaka's Shahjalal International Airport at 10:50am on Monday, his office said in a media statement.
Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Md Asaduzzaman, Dean of the Diplomatic Corps Yusuf SY Ramadan, Counsellor of the British High Commission Alison J Cross and secretaries and senior officials of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Prime Minister's Office and the President's Office welcomed the president at the airport.
The president left for London on May 9 on his doctor's advice for follow-up treatment and a health check-up.
On May 12, he underwent an angiogram at Royal Papworth Hospital in Cambridge under interventional cardiologist Stephen Holly, during which a serious blockage was detected.
An angioplasty was immediately performed and a stent was successfully placed.
The president's physical condition is currently stable and satisfactory, the statement said.
Previously, the president had undergone cardiac bypass surgery in Singapore in October 2023.
Throughout his stay in the UK, the president continued his official duties, digitally approving and signing documents and summaries sent from different ministries, the press note said.
He also held an informal courtesy call with Sudanese Prime Minister Kamil Idris at the Hilton Hotel in London.
