Milestone School and College’s campus in Diabari has extended its closure following the crash of a Bangladesh Air Force fighter jet on its premises.
The school will remain closed until Saturday, Aug 2.
Khadiza Akter, head teacher of the school section, confirmed the extension on Monday night.
“Our permanent Diabari campus will remain closed until Saturday. However, all administrative activities will continue,” she told bdnews24.com.
“We have spoken to students and their parents, they want to return to regular academic activities. We hope to resume normal activities soon,” she added.
This is the third time the closure has been extended since Jul 21, when a military aircraft crashed into a building of the institution.
After the crash, the school was initially closed for three days, which was later extended to Jul 28.
Most of the 34 people killed in the incident were children, making it the deadliest military aviation disaster in Bangladesh's history.
Among those injured, 34 are still being treated at the National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery, 11 at the Combined Military Hospital (CMH), and one at the National Institute of Mental Health.
