A policeman has been arrested in Chattogram for allegedly leaking a confidential radio message from the city’s police commissioner instructing officers not to go on duty without arms and ammunition.
Khulshi Police Station Wireless Operator Aumi Das was apprehended on Sunday night.
Police are working to file a case against him under the Cyber Security Act for disseminating the radio message sent by the CMP commissioner.
CMP Additional Deputy Commissioner (Headquarters) Mahmuda Begum told bdnews24.com, "A policeman has been taken into custody for an internal investigation. The process of taking further action is under way."
A CMP officer said, on condition of anonymity, that Aumi was arrested for spreading the commissioner's order on the internet. A case is being filed against him.
However, CMP Commissioner Hasib Aziz did not respond to calls for comment on the matter.
After a policeman was recently attacked in Chattogram, the CMP commissioner instructed that no police personnel should go on duty without arms and ammunition in a radio message on the night of Aug 12.
