Pakistan's National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA) has summoned Noreen Niazi, sister of jailed former prime minister Imran Khan, after comments she made about the military's handling of India's Operation Sindoor, NDTV reports.
The agency accused Niazi of disseminating "false, offensive and inflammatory" social media content targeting the military and other state institutions, the Indian outlet said.
Niazi reportedly said in an interview that Pakistan's military had fabricated a "victory narrative" around Operation Sindoor to conceal what she described as battlefield failures.
She claimed the four-day conflict did not unfold as Pakistan's military leadership later portrayed it to the public, saying the operation had been a major success for India while Pakistan's military was trying to hide its defeat.
The NCCIA notice, cited by NDTV, says she had disseminated "false, offensive and inflammatory social media content to defame state institutions and spread fake narratives".
Niazi made two explosive claims without offering evidence, as per the report.
According to her, the episode was aimed at facilitating Islamabad's entry into the Abraham Accords, as Pakistan moved toward recognising Israel.
Pakistan is among several countries that do not recognise Israel as a state and has no diplomatic relations with it.
The Abraham Accords are a series of US-brokered agreements signed in 2020 that established diplomatic, economic and security ties between Israel and several Arab nations, including the United Arab Emirates, Bahrain, Sudan and Morocco.
Second, Niazi said the military engagement, which the Pakistani establishment termed Maarka-e-Haq, was stopped from spiralling further after US President Donald Trump personally intervened to provide a face-saving exit for the Pakistani leadership, NDTV said.
Leaders of the ruling Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) government “strongly” condemned her remarks, arguing they undermined Pakistan's interests, it added.
