Russian President Vladimir Putin on Monday ordered an increase in the size of the Russian army to 1.55 million active servicemen, according to a presidential decree.
The expansion, which follows a similar increase ordered in August, will put the size of the armed forces at 2,441,630, of which 1,550,000 are active servicemen.
The number of active servicemen increases by 15,500.
