London, Apr 19 (BDNEWS) - German sports major Adidas has launched a special football to be used in the finals of the 2006 FIFA World Cup in Berlin.
The shiny golden coloured ball was recently unveiled by England football team skipper David Beckham, who incidentally has been nicknamed Goldenballs by his ex- Spice girl wife Victoria.
Interestingly, this is the first time, the finals will be played with a ball coloured differently from the ones used in the preceding rounds, report wire services.
The others will be black and white, the team colours for Germany and Adidas has named them +Teamgeist, meaning team spirit.
Adidas officials have said the balls have been specially designed following extensive tests at Loughborough University and the Adidas football lab in Scheinfeld, Germany, and are aimed at improving players' accuracy and control.
