Dhaka, Feb 20 (BDNEWS) – The four-day long Cotton Group 21st Bangladesh Amateur Golf Championship (BAGC), organised by Bangladesh Golf Federation (BGF), begins Wednesday at the Kurmitola Golf CLub.
Chief of Army Staff and BGF President Lt Gen Moeen U Ahmed will inaugurate the championship as the chief guest.
BGF is organising the championship for the first time while the previous championships were organised by the Kurmitola Golf Club.
A total of six countries are participating in the team event of the international championship, said BGF Secretary General Brig Gen (retd) Shafiquzzaman at a news conference Monday.
The countries are India, Nepal, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Bhutan and the host Bangladesh. Two golfers will represent each country.
Besides, a total of 20 foreign golfers, including 13 women, will participant in the individual event. Among them, 16 from South Korea and one each came from the Philippines, Turkey, France and the Netherlands.
Vice Chairman of the BAGC Organising Committee Air Cdre Rashidul Haque (retd), Chairman of Cotton Group Shaheen Mahmud, Col. Syed Anwar Hussain (retd) were also present on the occasion.
