Dhaka, April 6 (BDNEWS) – A blazing century by Asif Ahmed powered Maple Leaf International to register an impressive 191-run victory over Manarat Dhaka International in the Standard Chartered U-13 Young Tigers School Cricket tournament at the Residential Model High School ground Wednesday.
Maple Leaf, batted first, piled up a huge 298 for nine in the stipulated 50 overs with Asif hammering a sparkling 123 off 98 balls.
Manarat Dhaka International, in reply, were bowled out for 98 in 25 overs as Mehedi Hasan captured five wickets for 26 runs.
At Mirpur outer stadium, BCIR High School (76/1) overwhelmed Dhanmondi Tutorial (75/10) by nine wickets while Natun Paltan Line High School (217/4) outplayed Blue Bird International School (213/10) by six wickets at Dhanmondi Cricket Stadium.
Junior Laboratory High School (151/6) thrashed Happy Times International School (150/10) by four wickets at Dhanmondi Club ground while Shaheed Ramizuddin College (112/6) beat Scholastica (106/10) by the same margin at the Residential Model School ground-I.
At Uttara Friends Club ground, Enam Children Education & High School (161/8) whipped Govt Laboratory High School (157/10) by two wickets while Badda Alatunnesa High School (144/10) registered a thrilling four-run victory over Bangladesh International School (140/10) at Nabin Sangha Club (NSC) ground.
Earlier, Khondokar Jamil Uddin, chairman of Corporate and Premier League and vice-chairman of Game Development Committee of BCB, declared the tournament open at NSC ground while vice-chairman of Grounds and Facilities Management Committee Rafiqul Islam Babu was present.
