18-member Bangladesh squad announced for Asian Games' Hockey Qualifier

Dhaka, May 4 (BDNEWS) – Bangladesh Hockey Federation (BHF) Thursday announced an 18-member squad for the Asian Games' Hockey Qualifier.
The qualifying round begins on May 11 at Maulana Bhasani National Hockey Stadium. The Asian Games will take place in November in Doha, Qatar.
Playmaker Shahidullah Titu will lead the team while Abdullah Piru will company the team as manager.
LGRD minister Abdul Mannan Bhuiyan will inaugurate the tournament. Hosts Bangladesh and Indonesia will play the opener on May 11.
To make the tournament a success, an inter-ministerial meeting was held Thursday at the secretariat with State Minister for Youth and Sports Fazlur Rahman in the chair. Rahman is also chairman of the organising committee.
The meeting was attended, among others, by officials of different concerned ministries, president of Bangladesh Hockey Federation (BHF) and Chief of Air Staff Air vice-marshal Fakhrul Azam, general secretary Shamsul Bari, tournament committee chairman Shaheen Mahmud and joint secretaries Rahmatullah and Ali Imam Tapan were present at the meeting.
Shamsul Bari said that the meeting discussed the security issues of the participating teams and at the venue as well as smooth power supply during the tournament.
General secretary added that the meeting also discussed the issuance of on-arrival visas to players and officials of the participating teams.
Bangladesh Squad: Rasel Khan Bappi, Zahid Hossain, Shamsuddin Tuhin, Tabib-A-Noor, Hedayetul Islam Razib, Mashiur Rahman, Mahmudur Rahman Chayan, Asadur Rahman Chandan, Mahbub Ehsan Rana, Zahidul Islam Rajon, Rahul Kanti Roy, Khandoker Hasan, Shahidullah Titu, Rasel Mahmud Jimi, Zahed Bib Tabib Shuvo, Shamim Reza, Maksudul Alam and Ahsraful Islam Shishu.
