The BNP has claimed democracy in Bangladesh is in danger and that there is no alternative to an "unified anti-government agitation" to restore it.

Party's spokesperson Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir on Saturday accused the government of 'torturing the opposition'.
He alleged the 'timid' government had distanced itself from the people and was enacting laws one after the other to stay in power for ever.
"We must forge a national unity to oust the government through a popular movement," Fakhrul told a discussion in Dhaka.
