A three-member bench headed by Chief Justice Syed Mahmud Hossain issued the order denying the petition by the state for a stay on the bail.

Attorney General Mahbubey Alam represented the state and Advocate Zainul Abedin represented Amir Khosru Mahmud Chowdhury.

An audio clip allegedly featuring Amir Khasru Mahmud Chowdhury giving instructions to ‘bring people in to Dhaka’ was released on social media on Aug 4 amid the road safety protests.

A case was filed at the Chattogram Kotwali Police Station on Aug 4 under the Information Communication Technology Act, amended article 2013/57 (2) and article 3 of the Special Power Act 15 on provoking violence and hatching conspiracy against the state.

According to the case dossier, BNP leader Amir Khosru Mahmud Chowdhury had been hatching a conspiracy against the state and had given instructions to create unrest in the country.

Another case was filed in Dhaka on the issue on Aug 5.
