Chittagong, May 16 (BDNEWS) – Nagorik Committee (Citizens' Committee) has taken an initiative to form an 'Advisory Council' to assist mayor Mohiuddin Chowdhury for smooth operation of Chittagong City Corporation (CCC) and to expedite the movement for development of Chittagong.
The decision was taken at a views exchange meeting between the Nagorik Committee and the leader of the opposition Sheikh Hasina on Monday at the King of Chittagong Community Centre.
Several discussants including Nagorik Committee member secretary and former pro-VC of Chittagong University Dr Abu Yusuf Alam proposed to form the 'Advisory Council'.
Mayor Mohiuddin said, important decisions regarding running of the CCC and development of Chittagong would be taken through the 'Advisory Council'.
"Chittagong is now neglected," he said terming the present government malicious towards Chittagong. The consecutive third term elected mayor said, "People of Chittagong will give proper reply to this negligence in the same way just as they did in the recently held CCC polls.
Awami League president Sheikh Hasina supported the proposal of forming the Advisory Council at the views exchange meeting.
