Massive changes in police administration

Dhaka, Oct 31 (bdnews24.com) - The President and caretaker government chief, Iajuddin Ahmed, Tuesday ordered a massive shuffle of the police administration.
In the changes, the contractual appointments of the Director General (DG) of RAB, Abdul Aziz Sarkar and the Special Branch (SB) of police chief Farrukh Ahmed, were cancelled.
Additional Inspector General (Addl-IG) of police Khoda Baksh Chowdhury was appointed the new RAB, DG. He was brought in from his previous position as chief of the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) of police.
Meanwhile, sweeping changes were also made at the top levels of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP), SB and CID.
DMP commissioner, SM Mizanur Rahman, was removed from his post and made Addl-IG of CID. DIG of Rajshahi range, Nayeem Ahmed, was named the new commissioner of the DMP.
DIG of SB, Dr Mohammad Sadekur Rahman was transferred as DIG of the CID.
Besides, director of the Police Staff College, Nabo Bikram Tripura, was made Addl-IG of police headquarters, DIG of railway range Dr Mohammad Samsuddoha Khandkar, director of Police Staff College, DIG of police headquarters Hasan Mahmud Khandkar, acting Addl-IG of police headquarters and Khulna police commissioner Khan Sayeed Hasan, DIG of Rajshahi.
DIG of CID Nazmul Hasan was made Khulna police commissioner.
Commandant of Rangpur Police Training Centre (PTC) Sheikh Hemayet Hossain Mia was made DIG of railway range, Khulna PTC commandant Mokhlesur Rahman, DIG of SB, and Addl-IG of police headquarters Humayun Kabir, commandant of Khulna PTC.
Meanwhile, Special Superintendent (SS) of CID Doctor Mohammad Abdur Rahim was made commandant of Rangpur PTC, SS of police telecom Mohammad Zillur Rahman, Addl-IG of police headquarters and ADG of DMP Moniruzzaman, commandant of Armed Police Battalion (APBN-3).
Addl-IG Chowdhury Kamrul Ahsan was made OSD and placed with the establishment ministry.
Earlier, Awami League President Sheikh Hasina had put forward an 11-point demand to the new caretaker chief, which included the shuffle of police administration by November 3 to prove his [President] 'neutrality'.
AL sources had said that Hasina submitted three 'black lists' of partisan police personnel to the caretaker chief.
