Dhaka, Jan 9 (bdnews24.com) – The police have arrested former president Iajuddin Ahmed's son Imtiaz Ahmed Babu in a case filed over assault of a university registrar.
Babu was arrested on Monday from the city's United Hospital where he was undergoing treatment, Gulshan Police Station officer-in-charge Shah Alam told bdnews24.com.
He has been kept in the hospital under police custody and will be sent to court after getting medical clearance, he said.
"The decision whether he will be take on remand is yet to be taken," Alam said.
Autish Dipankar University of Science and Technology (ADUST) registrar Kabir Hossain Talukder filed the case at Gulshan Police Station over the alleged beating on Sunday, DMP's Gulshan zone deputy commissioner Lutful Kabir told bdnews24.com.
"Only Babu was made accused in the case. He is being treated at the United Hospital," he added.
Following the allegation of beating Kabir, Babu was given a chased by students of the university on Sunday when he went to his house to speak to Anwara Begum, Babu's mother, and former vice-chancellor of the university.
On Sunday, the police took him in custody for his 'security' and later released him.
