BNP alleges 'one-sided polls’

Polling agents of BNP’s candidates are being forced out of various voting centres during the first phase of Upazila polls to ensure a one sided election, said BNP Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi.

He said the ruling party candidates, inspired by the controversial national election on Jan 5, are taking over polling centres and are involved in rigging, said the BNP leader in a press conferenceon Wednesday.

“Invasion of polling centres and parading armed cadres (of Awami League) around various centres including Pabna’s Sujanagar, Sonatola of Bogra, Shibloy of Shariatpur makes it clear what kind of elections have taken place,” he said.

The briefing was initiated by the monitoring cell for the Upazila Parisad Election at the party’s Naya Paltan Headquarters.
