The ruling Awami League’s student affiliate named Rezwanul Haque Chowdhury Shovon as President and Golam Rabbani General Secretary.
Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader announced the new committee on behalf of party chief Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on Tuesday night.
Quader also named leaders of the Dhaka University, Dhaka Metropolitan North and South committees.
Sonjit Chandra Das has become BCL Dhaka University unit’s President and Saddam Hussain General Secretary.

Mehedi Hasan is the new President of BCL Dhaka Metropolitan South and Md Jobayer Ahmed General Secretary.
The BCL organised its 29th National Council on June 11 and 12, a year after the committee with Saifur Rahman Sohag as president and SM Jakir Hossain as general secretary was supposed to run its term.
Hasina took over the selection of leaders for the new committee though the organisation was supposed to elect the new leaders on the second day of the council.
The party chief spoke to the 323 aspirants later at the Ganabhaban after enquiring about them.
The announcement of the new leadership has come amid criticism of the organisation for attacks on demonstrators demanding reforms to the quota system in government jobs.
New President Shovon was a member of the central committee. He was attached with Hajji Muhammad Muhsin Hall of the Dhaka University.
Shovon hails from Bhurungamari of Kurhigram. His family has been involved with the Awami League for a long time.
Shovon’s father Nurunnabi Chowdhury is chairman of the Bhurungamari Upazila Parishad and president of the Bhurungamari Upazila unit of the Awami League.
New BCL General Secretary Rabbani was the education and study circle secretary in the previous committee. Hailing from Madaripur, he was attached with the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Hall of the Dhaka University.
DU BCL President Sonjit is from Mymensingh. He was president of the Jagannath Hall unit.
General Secretary Saddam from Panchagarh is attached with AF Rahman Hall. He was the deputy legal affairs secretary in the central committee.
