Drying clothes occupy Alia madrasa court

The premises of the temporary court set up in the Alia madrasa field in Old Dhaka’s Bakshibazar is now a place for washermen. As the court has remained out of use for a long time, the open ground in front of it is being used by decoration companies to dry washed fabrics. A temporary court was established on the field to try the suspects after the Pilkhana massacre. The court's proceedings came to a halt after the courtroom burnt down in a fire on Jan 9.

The rooms of the temporary court set up in the Alia madrasa field in Old Dhaka’s Bakshibazar have been closed since January. Washed clothes from decoration companies are now being dried in the empty field outside the court. Photo: Mahmud Zaman Ovi
