Heavy rains swamp Teknaf

Several days of relentless heavy rain and runoff from the hills have submerged low-lying areas of Teknaf in Cox’s Bazar. Hundreds of homes have gone under water, leaving local residents in distress.

Nearly 50,000 residents from around 70 villages across the Saint Martin’s Island, Hnila, Whykong, Baharchhara, Sabrang, and Teknaf Sadar unions have been marooned due to flooding caused by days of heavy rainfall and hill runoff. Photo: Jashim Mahmud
