Shyambazar is a longstanding wholesale vegetable market located in the capital's Old Dhaka. Vegetables and daily necessities brought in by truck or river from different parts of the country are sold at wholesale prices. Vegetables are mainly sold by auction at the stalls of this market. Wholesalers and retailers buy goods at low prices before supplying them to various retail markets in the city.
