Bangladesh has reported three more deaths among people with measles symptoms over the past 24 hours, alongside 128 new infections. The deaths take the total suspected toll from the outbreak to 750.
The latest bulletin from the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS), released on Friday, says the total number of deaths among diagnosed measles cases stands at 93, while the remaining 657 deaths are of suspected cases.
Among the deaths involving patients with measles symptoms since Mar 15, Dhaka Division has recorded the highest number with 285 fatalities.
Rajshahi Division has reported 89 deaths, Sylhet 88, Mymensingh 62, Chattogram 53, Barishal 42, Khulna 29 and Rangpur nine.
The health directorate said 901 people with measles symptoms sought treatment at hospitals across the country over the past day.
Of them, 800 were admitted for treatment.
Dhaka Division recorded the highest number of new hospital admissions with 311 patients.
Another 190 patients were admitted in Chattogram Division, followed by 110 in Barishal, 65 in Sylhet, 46 in Khulna, 52 in Mymensingh, 17 in Rajshahi and nine in Rangpur.
Since the beginning of the outbreak, 92,831 measles patients have been admitted to hospitals nationwide.
Of those, 89,234 have recovered and been discharged after treatment, according to the DGHS.
The health authorities also reported that the cumulative number of suspected measles cases in the country has reached 109,899.
The total number of confirmed measles cases now stands at 13,326.
