Ranveer Singh has pledged to support the education of 1,000 girls as part of the Seva Sankalp Abhiyan, marking Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s birthday during a visit to Mumbai’s Lalbaugcha Raja for Ganesh Chaturthi.

The Bollywood actor visited the famous Ganesh pandal on Thursday, where he offered prayers and spoke about the happiness his family had experienced over the past year, Hindustan Times reports.

Dressed in a white kurta, Ranveer announced his pledge during the visit.

“On the auspicious occasion of Ganesh Chaturthi and the birthday of our respected Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, I pledge to support the education of 1,000 daughters by joining the ‘Seva Sankalp Abhiyan’. I hope that this pleases Bappa and that His blessings remain with us always,” he said.

Ranveer had earlier joined Ganesh Chaturthi festivities at the Ambani family’s residence.

Speaking to News18 at Lalbaugcha Raja, the actor said the past year had brought happiness to him and his family and that he had come to offer his gratitude and seek Lord Ganesha’s blessings.

“It feels wonderful to be here. By Bappa's grace, the past year has been filled with happiness for both me and my family. So, we have come here to seek His darshan, to express our gratitude, and to receive His blessings for the journey ahead — for the journey of life,” he said.

The visit comes as Ranveer and his wife Deepika Padukone prepare to welcome their second child, according to Indian media reports.

Their daughter Dua turned two on Sept 8, while Deepika is reportedly expected to give birth in Bengaluru this month.

On the work front, Ranveer is currently shooting for Jai Mehta’s zombie thriller “Pralay”, which also stars Kalyani Priyadarshan.

Set in a dystopian Mumbai, the film is billed as a post-apocalyptic survival drama and will also mark Ranveer’s first production under his Maa Kasam Films banner.
