Bollywood superstar Sridevi Kapoor has died in Dubai after a heart attack, her brother-in-law Sanjay Kapoor has confirmed to indianexpress.com. She was 54.

From the age of four, she had worked in films in the Tamil, Telugu, Malaylam, Kannada and Hindi languages.
She was considered one of the very few Indian female superstars capable of huge box office success without the support of a male hero.
She was with her husband Boney Kapoor and her daughter Khushi Kapoor while her other daughter, Janhvi Kapoor was in Mumbai shooting her upcoming film 'Dhadak', according to the Indian Express report.
Sanjay Kapoor had landed Saturday night in Mumbai but on hearing the sad news, he took a flight back to Dubai immediately on landing. “Yes, it is true that Sridevi passed away. I just landed here, I was in Dubai and now I am flying back to Dubai. It happened roughly around 11.00-11.30. I don’t know more details yet,” Sanjay told the Indian daily.

The actress complained of heart ache and she was then rushed to the hospital, however, the attack was a major one and there was not much to be done to save her. It is reported that Sridevi's body will reach India by 2pm today.
Sridevi’s most memorable onscreen pairing was with her real-life brother-in-law Anil Kapoor, while her most successful films were produced by husband Boney Kapoor. The actress' last film will be Shah Rukh Khan's 'Zero' as Sridevi did a cameo in the film which was shot last October. Buzz was also that Sridevi was going to judge a reality dance show, however, she hadn't confirmed that news.
Born as Shree Amma Yanger Ayyapan, Sridevi worked in Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam and Kannada films before entering Hindi films.

She started acting in the late 1960s, but her performance in Malayalam film Poombata in 1971 won her the state award for best child artist.
She debuted as a lead actress in a Bollywood film in 1978, soon becoming one of India's biggest film stars.
The versatile actress decided to take a break from the film industry after the release of Judaai in 1997.
She made a comeback in 2012, starring in English Vinglish.
In 2013, the Indian government awarded her the Padma Shri -- the fourth highest civilian honour.
