The left-arm spinner and all-rounder had played for the Tridents in the last edition of the competition too.
No team in the Caribbean Premier League (CPL) bid for the Bangladesh opener Tamim Iqbal, who was also enlisted for the players’ auction in the second edition of the tournament.
He was with St Lucia Zouks in 2013.
The players’ auction for this year's CPL was held on Thursday. Like the last time, no cricketer from Bangladesh other than Shakib and Tamim were chosen for auction.
CPL begins on July 5.
Pakistan all-rounder Shahid Afridi, Sri Lanka's Tillakaratne Dilshan, and New Zealand's Daniel Vettori were also left out by the CPL teams. But they can bring in the players if they want, as they still have a day in hand.
CPL team can have a maximum of 19 players each. A complete list of players will be published on Sunday.
The competition fixtures are yet to be released. The matches would be spread over July and August.
