Wega Group Chairman Md Mejba Uddin Ali has been appointed chairman of the newly constituted Board of Trustees of BGMEA University of Fashion & Technology (BUFT).
A statement by the university said the appointment was made at the board’s inaugural meeting on Sept 28, where members discussed matters related to the university’s governance, administration, and future development.
According to BUFT’s Department of Public Relations, the newly constituted board has reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening BUFT’s academic and institutional capabilities and supporting its continued growth.
Strategic initiatives were also discussed to adapt BUFT’s academic programmes and skills development efforts to the evolving needs of Bangladesh’s textile, apparel and fashion industries, cited in the press release.
The meeting highlighted the university’s role in education and professional skills development for the country’s textile, apparel and fashion sectors.
