BGMEA University of Fashion and Technology (BUFT) has hosted the opening ceremony of the 12th Belt and Road International Cultural and Art Week in Dhaka, bringing together representatives from Bangladesh and China.
The event, titled “Interwoven Civilizations”, was held on Tuesday to celebrate cultural heritage and strengthen educational and cultural cooperation between the two countries, according to a press re;ease.
The ceremony opened with a display showcasing the heritage of traditional Bangladeshi textiles and clothing, highlighting the country's craftsmanship and cultural identity.
A cooperation agreement with Leizu College (Bangladesh) was signed at the ceremony, expected to expand opportunities for educational and cultural collaboration between Bangladesh and China, the statement said.
Md Nurul Haque, a BUFT Board of Trustees member and managing director of Sagar Garments Ltd; Mesbah Uddin Ali, chairman of the BGMEA Standing Committee on BUFT Affairs; and Mohiuddin Taher, director of Shanto Mariam Honghe Confucius Classroom, attended the ceremony.
BUFT Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Engr Ayub Nabi Khan delivered the welcome speech.
Pu Bingyuan, vice president of Chengdu Qinggong Polytechnic University, and Ge Zhenyu, president of the Textile and Garment Branch of the Chinese Enterprises Association in Bangladesh, also addressed the programme.
Prof Md Alamgir Hossain, Pro-Vice Chancellor (Acting) and treasurer of BUFT, delivered the vote of thanks.
