Dhaka, Apr 28 (bdnews24.com) – Come 1st May and Dhaka Sheraton Hotel will be known as Ruposhi Bangla Hotel.
Hotel's assistant manager (communication) Zia Mohiuddin on Thursday told bdnews24.com that the official announcement would be made at an introductory press conference at the hotel on Saturday.
The hotel started its business in Bangladesh in 1967 as Hotel Inter Continental. Thereafter, from 1973 until 1983, it operated under the overseer company Inter Continental Hotel Corporation.
Later, in 1984, the management of the hotel was handed over to Sheraton Overseas Management Corporation, and it took the name of Dhaka Sheraton Hotel. Its contract ended in 2008 only, but it was renewed until this year.
The state-owned Bangladesh Services Limited (BSL), owner of the hotel, will now decide whether to renew its deal with the hotel's last overseer or appoint any other corporation.
Earlier on Thursday, a press release from hotel's marketing communication manager Mohammad Shahidus Sadeque Talukder stated that the press conference would be held around 11am on Saturday for making the announcement.
"I am the communication officer of Sheraton until now. From Saturday on, I'll be posted as the manager (communication) of Ruposhi Bangla Hotel," he wrote in the release.
