Robi Axiata PLC has signed an agreement with Starlink, making it Bangladesh’s first telecom operator to be an authorised enterprise reseller of Starlink products and services in the country.
In a media statement on Thursday, the company said the partnership will enable it to offer two service tiers -- Local Priority and Global Priority -- catering to both fixed and portable use cases.
“Once introduced, these solutions are expected to support critical digital applications such as video conferencing, e-learning, cloud computing, and digital commerce, thereby helping to bridge the digital divide across the country,” the statement read.
Robi plans to distribute Starlink services through enterprise sales channels and authorised retail outlets, alongside community-sharing Wi-Fi solutions aimed at promoting affordable internet access in rural areas.
"This initiative represents a transformative step toward bridging Bangladesh’s digital divide,” Robi’s Chief Commercial Officer Shihab Ahmad said.
“By enabling high-speed satellite internet for remote and underserved regions, Robi is paving the way for communities to access vital digital services, fostering inclusion, innovation, and sustainable progress," he added.
According to Robi, the agreement marks a significant step toward extending reliable satellite internet connectivity to enterprises, government institutions, educational establishments, healthcare facilities, and underserved rural communities -- particularly in regions where conventional network infrastructure is limited or unavailable.
