Remittance inflow has crossed $2 billion for the 13th month in a row, as August records a near 9 percent rise from the same month last year.

Expatriates sent $2.42 billion through banking channels in August 2025, up from $2.24 billion in August 2024, according to Bangladesh Bank spokesperson Arief Hossain Khan.

With this, Bangladeshi migrants have consistently sent more than $2 billion per month since August last year.

Data from the central bank show that total remittance during the first two months of the current fiscal year has reached $4.90 billion -- a sharp rise from $4.13 billion during the same period last year.

This marks an 18.4 percent year-on-year growth.

The upward trend mirrors the strong run seen over the last 10 months of the previous fiscal year.

In March 2025, remittance reached a record monthly high of $3.29 billion, the highest ever sent through formal banking channels.
