Shanta Holdings has handed over Pinnacle, a commercial tower in Dhaka’s Tejgaon, marking the completion of Bangladesh’s first 40-storey skyscraper.
In a statement, the company said the handover ceremony on Apr 18 marked a "significant milestone for the country’s real estate sector".
“Located in Tejgaon, the tower rises 500 ft above the city and stands as the first completed 40 storied skyscraper, reflecting a shift in scale and construction capability in Bangladesh,” it said.
Senior Shanta officials, including Managing Director Khondoker Monir Uddin, landowners, clients, and architect Ehsan Khan attended the ceremony, which also “reaffirmed Shanta’s commitment to delivering world-class commercial spaces in Bangladesh.”
Shanta touted Pinnacle as a new standard for sustainable development in Bangladesh, saying it was LEED Platinum certified – positioning it within the “highest tier of environmentally responsible buildings globally, while reinforcing its alignment with international standards of performance”.
The building is fully compliant with the latest NFPA fire safety standards and comes equipped with the latest fire detection and protection systems, while Meinhardt Singapore has incorporated the “latest regional guidelines for earthquake resilience” into the structure, Shanta says.
“The building also introduces several firsts, a record breaking seven-day slab cycle using aluminium formwork enabled accelerated construction, achieving the fastest civil construction in the industry. A 6.8 COP centrifugal chiller with zero ozone depleting potential refrigerant, ensures energy efficiency while reducing climate impact. MERV 13 systems significantly improve indoor air quality and enhance occupant health and comfort. It’s also the first wind tunnel tested building in the country, to enhance structural stability. Its façade comprises 36mm thick unitised glazing, while eight lifts operating at 4m per second speed offer the fastest vertical mobility in the country. Furthermore, the entire building is driven by a fully integrated Building Management System (iBMS), ensuring operational intelligence and live monitoring of all assets,” the press release said.
Shanta says the completion of the structure reflects its commitment to innovation, quality and precision in delivering world-class commercial spaces.
“With a strong pipeline of upcoming commercial projects, the company is set to reshape not only Tejgaon but the wider city skyline, redefining how people experience state-of-the art and compliant work environments in Dhaka.”
