Six accomplices of top crime lord Shahadat arrested: RAB

A spokesperson of the elite police unit told bdnews24.com that the arrests were made during a raid on Monday night at Dhaka's Mirpur. Those arrested are Sentu Mia, Milon alias Suman, Yameen Sarkar alias Monty, Babu Ahmed, Masud Rana and Solaiman Quader alias Pavel. “All of them are accomplices of top criminal Shahadat”, said RAB media wing Assistant Director Maksudul Alam.  Listed criminal Shahadat is accused of murder, extortion and other criminal charges in more than 24 cases. In March this year, a Dhaka court sentenced him to death for the murder of an Awami League front organisation’s leader Manir Uddin Manu. According to media reports, Shahadat was a leader of the Mirpur based unit of Awami League’s student affiliate. He fled to India after warrants were out against him. Reports claim that he controlled his extortion and contract killing network from there through his accomplices in Mirpur. There had been a report that Shahadat was arrested in Kolkata in 2012 with two AK-47 assault rifles, but neither the Bangladesh police nor Indian law enforcers confirmed it.
