Ziaur Rahman, an official at the Fire Service control room told bdnews24.com the fire erupted at the shopping complex around 7:45pm on Sunday.

He said five units of the Fire Service were working to douse the flames.

A bdnews24.com photographer informed the newsroom from the scene around 8pm that the firefighters managed to contain the fire.

Quoting Fire Service officials, he said the fire originated from a shop on the second floor of the six-storey ‘Gulshan Shopping Complex’.

The Fire Service officials suspected the fire started from an electrical malfunction.

It was a holiday for the markets in the area, so no one was there in the shop, and no casualties were reported.

A fire devastated nearby Dhaka North City Corporation Market last year.
