Supporters of Awami League MP Abdur Rahman Badi have blocked a local highway in Cox's Bazar to protest against his conviction for corruption.

Police said traffic was halted on the Cox's Bazar-Teknaf Highway at the district's Ukhiya Upazila from 2:30pm Wednesday.
A Dhaka court sentenced Badi earlier in the day to three years in prison for concealing wealth information. He was taken to jail after the verdict.
As soon as the news broke, supporters of the legislator, from Cox's Bazar-4 constituency (Ukhiya -Teknaf), started demonstrations, Ukhiya police OC Md Abdul Khayer.
"Police are on the spot. We have reached out to the higher authorities over the situation," he told bdnews24.com.
