RAB chief terms extralegal killing allegations ‘cheap propaganda’

New RAB Director General Benazir Ahmed has 'defended' his force over the allegations of extrajudicial killings, terming the accusations 'cheap propaganda'.

When his reaction was sought on the allegations of the BNP and some human-rights organisations over the recent incidents of 'fake encounters', he said, “It is a cheap propaganda. A particular section makes the propaganda describing it (gun battle) extrajudicial killing.”

He was speaking to journalists at RAB-6 office in Khulna on Sunday.

“What is extrajudicial killing? Should the law enforcers remain a mute spectator while criminals commit crime? Why have the arms been issued to the law enforcers? Is it to play Haduddu?” Ahmed, who took over as RAB chief last month, asked.
