Authorities hope the situation will become stable by Saturday evening.
A massive power cut hit Bangladesh around 11:30am. State Minister for Power and Energy Nasrul Hamid said they were working to repair the power grid.
By the afternoon, reports of power supply being resumed started coming in from various districts.
When approached, Power Grid Company of Bangladesh (PGCB) Managing Director Masum-Al-Beruni said, "We are working to ensure the situation becomes stable by the evening."
He said a committee had been formed to investigate the glitch in the national grid.
