Police to provide detailed briefing on case over Shia gathering blast

The Dhaka Metropolitan Police say it will provide a detailed media briefing on the case over the Oct 24 bomb explosions at the Husseini Dalan in Old Dhaka.

The briefing will be held at the DMP headquarters on Thursday, police informed the media through an SMS.

A total of 115 people were injured when three homemade bombs were lobbed at the Shia gathering during the Ashura.

Two of the injured victims died later at the Dhaka Medical College and Hospital while under treatment.

Though the Islamic State has claimed responsibility for the explosions in its 'Dabiq' online magazine, police has maintained it was the handiwork of 'local extremists'.
