The police, however, could not get hold of him until 6pm on Friday.
Dipjol, famous for the notorious characters he plays on screen, assaulted a police constable on Nov 16 in Gabtoli area for stopping his car at an intersection. Also a commissioner of Dhaka's ward 9, the actor reportedly slapped the policeman and beat him up with the butt of a pistol.
Dhaka's Darus Salam Police Station OC Abdul Malek suspected that the "notorious" actor might have gone into hiding. "But we will soon find him."
The police filed a case against him with the Darus Salam Police Station immediately after the incident.
Malek told bdnews24.com that the law enforcers raided Dipjol's Mohakhali DOHS residence, but could not track him down.
The police have kept an eye on the Film Development Corporation premises besides raiding a shooting spot owned by Dipjol, his daughter's in-law's and several other places where the actor is known to frequent, he added.
The police chief said different detectives were trying to locate Dipjol. "We haven't taken his attack lightly. We will arrest him at any cost."

Two illegal firearms were also recovered from his Gabtoli residence when he was behind bars back then.
He was set free after the Awami League-led government came to power in 2009.
On the day of the incident, the traffic constable was on duty at the Gabtoli intersection at 10:15am when Dipjol's speeding car violated a red signal.
As constable Altaf stopped the car, Dipjol got down, slapped the constable and also allegedly threatened the constable yelling, "Do you know who I am? You have some nerve to stop my car!"
Malek had said that the police, on information, rushed to the spot only to find that Dipjol had fled the scene by then.
