Police arrest Neo-JMB spiritual head Abul Kashem from Dhaka

Police have arrested one Maulana Abul Kashem who is believed to be the ‘spiritual head’ of the Neo-JMB.

Additional Deputy-Commissioner of Dhaka Metropolitan Police Mohammad Yousuf Ali told bdnews24.com that "a unit of counter-terrorism police arrested him from Dhaka Thursday night."

He said that Kashem earlier worked as the Amir of one faction of the JMB.

The official declined to give further details about Kashem, saying "they would hold a press conference later."

An official of the counter-terrorism unit told bdnews24.com that after the arrest of JBM chief Maulana Saidur Rahman, Shaiok Abul Kashem became the spiritual leader of JMB.

“JMB followers call him Bada Hujur,” he added requesting anonymity.
