"The prime minister is maintaining round-the-clock communication with Dhaka on the storm situation. She has ordered all-out preparation to tackle the storm,” said Ihsanul Karim, Prime Minister's press secretary.
The tropical storm has intensified over the Bay of Bengal since Hasina’s departure Monday morning, prompting the Met office to hoist danger signal No. 7 at the country's maritime ports.
The storm has brought the country's main seaport and long-haul river transport from Dhaka to the southern region to a halt, while some flights from Chittagong were also cancelled.
The prime minister is scheduled to return on Wednesday morning.
