Chittagong, April 25 (BDNEWS) – Police constable Marma Singh Tripura and Didarul Alam of Ramu have become joint champions in the Abdul Jabbar's Boli Khela (a form of wrestling) held at Laldighi maidan in Chittagong city.
Monday was the final day of the traditional Boli Khela. In a 44-minute long wrestling bout neither Marma Singh Tripura nor Didarul Alam prevailed. The adjudicators then declared them both joint champions.
Each of them received a one tola gold medal, cash Tk 3,000 and a crest.
On the occasion of the Boli Khela, a three-day long Baishakhi fair was organised from Kotwali crossing to Cinema Palace of Chittagong City.
Fisheries and Livestock minister Abdullah Al Noman inaugurated the Boli Khela. He also distributed the prizes among the winners on the concluding day.
President of the Boli Khela and Baishakhi fair observation committee Anwar Hossain Mamun presided while Chittagong Metropolitan Police Commissioner Md Amzad Hossain was present among others.
The traditional festival of Chittagong started in 1909. A businessman Abdul Jabbar started the Boli Khela at Bokshirhat area.
