Dhaka, June 17 (bdnews24.com)—Language Movement hero Gaziul Haque died on Wednesday at the age of 80, family said.
Daughter Sujata Haque told bdnews24.com her father, who has suffered long illness, became unconscious at home.
Doctors declared him dead after his family took him to Square Hospital.
Gaziul Haque was one of the main leaders of the 1952 Language Movement, and played an active role in the 1971 Liberation War as well as taking up political-cultural causes throughout his life.
Prime minister Sheikh Hasina, learning of the news while she was in parliament, rushed to the hospital to pay her respects.
