Chapainawabganj, April 11 (BDNEWS) – An uneasy and eerie calm is prevailing in and around Kansat on the fifth day of the hartal called by Palli Bidyut Unnayan Sangram Parishad (PBUSP) at Shibganj upazila in Chapainawabganj Tuesday.
The section 144 is still in force and police compelled the shutters of the shops down to ward off the agitated Kansat dwellers.
However, amid such choking state, preparation to lead a procession into Kansat bazaar and holding a rally is going on in full swing. Organisers put all their efforts to assemble people from every nook and corner of the area through loud hailers.
Meanwhile, police administration that has been on high alert has taken all out stringent measures to foil any sort of resistance attempt.
The formidable stance of police and locales left the area into an unfathomable tension.
The police officials told BDNEWS, they would outwit any attempt of leading procession to Kansat bazar defying section 144.
Earlier on Monday, police was compelled to leave their previous position while local people from adjacent corners of Kansat bazaar launched attack on police breaking section 144.
Moreover, in the course of the battle between cops and Kansat dwellers, police nabbed nine agitators including one Bisarat Ali Bishu, son of Idris Ali on Monday.
Police sources said, contingents of more police along with female officials will be brought to merge with the current deployment of 12 hundred police and 10 platoons of BDR.
