Jamaat leader held in raid on Naya Diganta MD Shibbir Mahmud's house

Police have arrested a Jamaat-e-Islami leader, who they say is wanted in over a dozen cases related to violence, in a raid on Daily Naya Diganta Managing Director Shibbir Mahmud's house.

Mezbah Uddin Bhuiyan, 50, is a leader of Jamaat's central committee, police said but could not confirm his post in the party.

Dhanmondi Police Station Inspector Md Helal Uddin told bdnews24.com police found Bhuiyan at the attic of Mahmud's house at Road-13 of Dhanmondi at around 12:30am on Monday.

He said Bhuyian has arrest warrants against him in 13 cases over violence at Sudharam Police Station in Noakhali.
