Dhaka, Jan 10 (bdnews24.com) – Chief photographer of the daily Ittefaq Mohammad Alam died of heart disease Thursday at age 62.
Alam was admitted to BIRDEM Cardiac Centre Wednesday after he felt chest pain. He left behind his wife and a daughter.
His first funeral prayer was held at Matuail and then twice at the National Press Club.
Alam was buried at Zurain graveyard.
Journalists and photographers rushed to the National Press Club after they heard of the death of the senior photographer.
Many politicians and journalists attended his funeral and wreathed his coffin.
Alam started his career in 1968 with the daily Azad and shot to fame by photographing the incidents of mass uprising in 1969.
Alam was a press photographer of the Mujibnagar government during the War of Independence. But the state did not confer any honour on him.
