Shariatpur, Feb 14 (bdnews24.com) – Two main accused in Hena murder case have made confession before the Shariatpur Chief Judicial Magistrate's Court, the investigator in the case has said.
Criminals Investigation Department (CID) inspector Mohammad Moniruzzaman told reporters that the court had sent Mahbubur Rahman and Idris Sheikh to jail after recording of their statements on Monday.
He said two senior judicial magistrates, Ashok Kumar Dutta Abdul Mannan, recorded the statements of Mahbub and Idris respectively.
The police said Mahbub agreed to make confession after grilling for five days.
With Hena Akter, his cousin, Mahbub had an 'illicit' affair, which caused her death by lashing, the police added.
Monir said Idris, charged with edict of verdict for lashing the girl, agreed to give confessional statement after three-day remand.
Hena, 14, was flogged following the verdict issued by some local people at Chamta village in Naria Upazila on Jan 24. She died in a hospital on Jan 31.
Hena's father filed the first case on Feb 1 against 18 people. Following a High Court order on Thursday, victim's mother Aklima Akter filed a second case on Friday evening against the same accused in the first case.
Police have so far arrested six accused.
A second autopsy was done to Hena's body following a Feb 7 High Court order, as the first one found no sign of torture on the body.
To find out the reasons of the dissimilarities between the two autopsy reports, the High Court bench of A H M Shamsuddin Chowdhury and Sheikh Mohammad Jakir Hossain also ordered the health secretary and director general of health department to form a high-profile probe committee.
Naria circle assistant-commissioner of police Talebur Rahman said the police are continuing search to nab the other accused.
