Dhaka, May 19 (bdnews24.com) -- The High Court has quashed a corruption case filed against Jamuna Group chairman Nurul Islam Babul and his wife, and Salma Islam MP by the Anti Corruption Commission.
A bench of justices Farid Ahmed and Mohammad Shawkat Hossain passed the order on Thursday in response to two petitions filed by the couple challenging the legality of the case.
Barrister Rafiqul Haque argued for the couple while advocate Khorshed Alam Khan stood for the ACC during the hearing.
Then ACC deputy director Sharmin Ferdousi filed the case against Babul and Salma Islam, also the publisher of Bengali national daily Jugantor, on Aug 19, 2007 on charge of amassing wealth illegally and concealing information in their wealth statements submitted to the ACC.
