About 35,000 tonnes of rice and Tk 5 billion will be given in the next 100 days, Disaster Management Minister Mofazzal Hossain Chowdhury Maya told the media on Sunday.
The decision comes amid flash floods and heavy rains in early April inundating crops in several backswamps in Sunamganj, Kishoreganj, Netrokona, Moulvibazar, Sylhet and Habiganj.
The minister said the government will provide the assistance under its social safety net programme Vulnerable Group Feeding until Jul 31.
