German embassy in Dhaka has improved facilities of a Gazipur school to remember a 14-year old pupil who has died of arson during last year’s violent political situation.

On Nov 4, Monir Hossain was killed on the day of a strike when picketers set alight the covered van in which he was travelling along with his father.
The opposition BNP and allies were in agitation ahead of the Jan 5 elections that they finally boycotted.
The embassy in a media release said in memory of the young boy they had provided improved facilities to the school he studied – Gonack Chala Government Primary School at Kaliakar.
The embassy built a classroom in the school and furnished that with tables and chairs to reduce the number of children per class.
Currently the school has almost 200 students who are being taught in four classrooms.
The classroom has been named after Monir .
In addition to that the Embassy has helped instal sanitary facilities.
